2024-25 Five A Side Summer League

Entries are open for our 2024/2025 Senior 5-a-side Cambridge Summer League

Team entries are now open for this year’s Senior 5-a-side Cambridge Summer League competition. The first 40 teams to enter will have confirmed entries and any subsequent entries will be held on a waiting list in case a team withdraws at the start of the competition.

Opening night is Wednesday 6th November 2024.

The competition is open to teams of men, women and young adults 15 years of age and over. Organisers will do their best to stream teams into leagues of a similar standard.

For the past few seasons, we’ve placed teams into groups for serious, semi-serious and purely social teams. This year, depending on the number of entries, we’ll endeavour to do the same and, if numbers permit, we’ll also endeavour to run a women’s league.

Individuals who want to play

Individuals wishing to play and do not have a team can email Cambridge Summer League and we’ll put you in touch with teams needing players. In the past we helped place new players with teams so don’t be shy.

Team entry fees

Entry fee per team is $350 (incl. GST). Payment is due upon registering here

Match rules

  1. Kick-off (start/restart after a goal is scored) from the centre spot. Opposition players must be 5yd away and on their own half.
  2. Regular football rules apply except there is no off side. Opposition players must retire 5 yards from the ball on all free kicks.
  3. Field players may not enter the goal area (half circle). Should a player do so, a free kick will be given at the point of entry (attacker), or a penalty kick will be awarded (defender).
  4. The keeper may not leave the goal area. If the keeper plays the ball outside the goal area a penalty will be awarded.
  5. Corners and throw-ins will be rolled or thrown in to play (underarm, using one hand). For goal kicks, the goalkeeper will roll the ball out. Attackers must be a minimum of 5yd away.
  6. Pass Backs: If the ball is passed back to the goal keeper by a team mate, the goal keeper may not pick the ball up - it must be played with the feet. Should the ball be picked up, the resulting free kick will be indirect, with the ball placed anywhere on the field of play. Opposition players must be at least 5yd away, or on the line of the goal area.
  7. A maximum of five players from each team are allowed on the field of play at any one time.
  8. Teams may use as many substitutions as they wish during the course of a game. Substitutions from half way.
