2020
Services to football
Club president Peter Martens was awarded a Queen’s Service Medal in the New Year’s Honours list for his services to football, recognising more than 40 years of work as a club volunteer.
Innovation in Sport
After being recognised at the Waipa District awards in late 2019, Cambridge FC and the Cambridge Junior Cricket Association were jointly awarded the Craig Investment Partners trophy for Innovation in Sport and Recreation at the Sport Waikato awards.
2019
Innovation in Sport
Cambridge FC and the Cambridge Junior Cricket Association were recognised for their collaboration to provide a new base for junior cricketers at the football grounds in Vogel St with a nomination for the Innovation in Sport category at the Waipa Sports Awards.
Finalist, Waipa Sports Administrator of the Year
Volunteer Gary Kelk was nominated for this award at the Waipa Sports Awards.
Finalist, Coach of the Year
Cambridge FC chair Steve Thomas was nominated for his work with Cambridge High School’s first XI.
2018
Waipa Sports Administrator of the Year
Our junior captain Tim Bailey won this award at a Sport Waikato dinner at the Don Rowlands Centre, Lake Karapiro.
2017
Waipa Sports Team of the Year
Cambridge’s men’s first team took this award for their successful season in which they won the WaiBOP Premiership, the WaiBOP Federation Shield and won promotion to the Northern League. The team also became a finalist at the Waikato Sports Team of the Year awards.
Finalist, Waipa Sports Club of the Year
The club was recognised for its achievements in winning the WaiBOP Premiership, WaiBOP Championship, Waikato Women’s League and the WaiBOP Federation Shield, as well as earning promotion to the Northern League. Mike Woodlock was also a finalist for Waipa’s Coach of the Year, Patrick Woodlock was a finalist for the Waipa Sportsperson of the Year and chairman Steve Thomas was a finalist for the Waipa Administrator of the Year.

Our club was highly-commended in the Best Website section of the 2017 NZ Football Media Awards.
2016
Waikato Community Partnership Award
This award was presented to our club by Corrections New Zealand for its outstanding contribution to the national community work scheme. The award recognised three years’ work by our club in helping support those sentenced by the courts to work for their community.
2015
Waipa Sports Club of the Year
The club won this award for the second year in a row, recognising its performance on and off the pitch. Our club won the WaiBOP Premiership title and the WaiBOP Youth Championship, and had again contributed much to the Cambridge community, judges said.
Finalist, Waikato Sports Club of the Year
The club was recognised by Sport Waikato as a finalist in this award for the second year in a row.
NZ Football’s Quality Club Mark (QCM)
Our club was among the first 40 in the country to achieve this quality standard after assessors ranked our performance against national benchmarks. Being one of the first to achieve QCM Level 1 status, our club was presented with a defibrillator by NZ Football in recognition of our work.
2014
Waipa Sports Club of the Year
Hosting ASB Premiership games for WaiBOP United, and achieving the country’s second-highest attendances for games, played a significant part in landing this award.
Waipa Sports Administrator of the Year
Club chairman Greg Zeuren was recognised for his leadership during an outstanding year.
Waikato Sports Administrator of the Year
Having won the Waipa award, Greg Zeuren was judged to be the Waikato’s top administrator.
Finalist, Waikato Sports Club of the Year
Sport Waikato nominated the club for this regional award after the club won the Waipa Sports Club of the Year title.
WaiBOP Football Club of the Year
Our regional federation named Cambridge its Club of the Year after considering the achievements of its 106 affiliated clubs and schools. Highlights were the hosting of ASB Premiership matches, and our commitment to NZ Football’s Whole of Football programme.
Trustpower Waipa Community Service Supreme Award
Our efforts to help the wider community earned us this prestigious award for community service, making us only the second sports club to receive it. As Waipa’s Supreme Award winner, the club was then one of 28 finalists at the national Trustpower Community Service Awards in Wellington.
2011
NZ Match Programme of the Year Award
The New Zealand Football Media Association judged our match programme to be the best in the country. Our club received commendations for its programme at the same awards in 2012 and 2014.
2010
Trustpower Waipa Community Service Sports Award
Our junior section won this award after significant growth in player numbers and having completed a programme that saw the building of junior clubrooms and the development of what used to be Cambridge’s polo grounds into football pitches.
2001
Waipa Sports Club of the Year Award
Our club won this award for the first time, heading off a host of clubs from different sporting disciplines.
1993
Waipa Sports Team of the Year
Our club’s Class of ’93 team won this award for their outstanding feat of winning the Northern League division two title without being beaten – registering 19 wins and three draws in their season. The team were also finalists in the Waikato Sports Team of the Year awards.
